5 APARTMENT DESIGN TRENDS TO LOOK FORWARD TO IN 2022

Surry Hills finest interior designer, Kirsten Stanisich shares five of 2022 design trends to keep your eyes on.

Texture and materiality
There is a new focus on minimalist variations in materiality and texture that subtly work together for a more restrained and nuanced impact on space. This is in contrast to earlier trends where we saw statement textures and mixed patterns.

Colour
Working to complement texture and materiality is the use of tonal colours within luxury apartments to create a serene and calm interior space as opposed to the bold colour of earlier trends.

Shape and sculpture
More and more designs are rethinking the use of shape, seeking sculptural and unique forms in furniture, decoration, interior detail and the planning of spaces.

Natural materials
Natural and earthy materials with low processed finishes are becoming synonymous with the concept of ‘luxury’. They help create grounded and authentic spaces that people are now seeking in their everyday lives.

Considered zoning
Where once open plan living and continuous space was highly sought after, considered zoning of spaces enables for a stronger separation of activities like working, sleeping and entertaining as we spend more of our time at home.
